Tourists from all over the world visit Mt.Abu to spend their holidays. It is a perfect destination for family or friends outings. Even love birds who are newly married visit the hill station to mark the beginning to their new life.
When talking about various places to visit in Mt.Abu, I have here focused On Nakki jheel and its surrounding very well known areas.
Nakki jheel got its name from the name nakh which means nails. Various stories are associated with the emergence of this lake. This man-made lake is revered and cherished by the local natives of Mt.Abu. Situated within the confines of the Aravali range, this lake gives those bland looking rocks a whiff of fresh air and a source of water to the thirsty land.
Nakki jheel is surrounded by hedges of small and big trees giving it a more natural look and rocks that seem like protecting the lake by all means. One of the biggest rock looks like a toad that is about to make a jump into the sea when looked from a lateral view. And due to the illusionary effect, the rock got its name Toad Rock.
A few of the communities living in Mt.Abu link the lake with spiritualism and consider it sacred. And so every year in April, also the month of shuklapaksha, worship is held and people perform rituals and consecrate their nails in the lake.
Being very close to the market place and not in any separate tranquil place, this lake is easily reachable. Do plan your holidays and honeymoon in Mt.Abu. There is enough amazement in the womb of this beautiful hill station.
